Q1. Term required for filing a patent application in UAE ?
A patent application claiming priority should be filed within twelve months from the first priority date
Q2 What is the Duration of Patents of UAE ?
A granted patent in the UAE is valid for a total of 20 years, from the official date of filing. Patent terms after the 20-year mark are not eligible for an extension, as per UAE Federal laws.
Q3.What are the Filing requirements in UAE?
The official languages of a UAE patent application are Arabic and English. These translations should be submitted at the time of filing.
For obtainment of the filing date, a patent application in the UAE must contain:
- a request to grant a patent;
- applicant(s) and author(s) details (names, addresses, nationalities);
- specification and claims in English and Arabic, drawings, if any, and abstract.
Q4. How to examine a patent application UAE?
Once the formal requirements are completed and all required documents are submitted, the Patent Office will issue a formal and legal examination notice formally accepting the application. A request for the settlement of the examination fees within 90 days from the date of receiving the notification about positive results of the formal examination will also be issued. Under the agreement between the UAE Patent Office and the Korean Patent Offices, the latter is responsible for conducting the substantive examination of the applications filed with the UAE PTO.

Q6. what is the patent prosecution process?
In the form of regulatory counsel before Federal Courts, it should be acknowledged that the only one permitted to represent you before a state prosecutor is a local prosecutor with public privilege and public immunity.
There are no mandatory procedures that need to be undertaken before proceedings are commenced. Once the statement of claim is filed and the court fees are paid, the first hearing will be scheduled.
